Hey there. We started a private Facebook group since this forum isn’t very active. Feel free to check it out. It’s free to join until August 1st.
Hi ladysteph.
Congrats on deciding you want a baby! No doubt Kratom does not seem like a good mix…
Making your own capsules sounds like a great idea if you’re willing to go through the trouble. It’s definitely a good way to be accurate with the amount you take as well as not make a mess.
I moderate this forum and was once a person struggling with Kratom myself. I quit a little less than a year ago using a method very similar to the one found on this blog.
I’m happy to chat with you and hopefully some of the others will chime in. There are a few around.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Hey cconley and welcome.
First of all, I wish you the bst on your journey to quit Kratomm. Once you figure out a method for reducing your doses slowly over time, you’ll be able to to do it no problem.
You can take your Kratom with the usual toss and wash method straight out of the pill container. That’s why we recommend the detachable containers that have 3 or 4 sections. It would be hard to use a large pill container for this without making a mess.
You might also pour it into a spoon, or even a folded piece of paper. Any way to get it down without making a mess or being too inconvenient is good.
If it’s easier for you to just measure each dose with a measuring spoon or something, that is an option too.
It’s not an exact science. As long as you are reducing the amount you take consistently, you will eventually be at a point where you can stop without tossing and turning all night.
Welcome, Heather!
I would venture to guess the insomnia is withdrawal-related. That is the number one symptom that I struggled with. I can deal with a runny nose and the general uncomfortable feelings but not being able to sleep was a deal-breaker.
Based on what I’ve seen with others it would seem that if you take a large amount of kratom each day, like more than 20g, then one might be able to taper fast in the beginning.
At one time I was taking 25g per day and I was able to cut it in half and still function. It wasn’t until I got down around the 8g per day area that I needed to slow down my taper in order to sleep well and keep from suffering too much.
It’s been 5 days since you posted. How are you getting along? Are you trying to quit 100% or just reduce your dose?
Hey there Ilovedogs.
How is your taper going?
I’ve found from going through this process a few times that it’s possible to taper pretty quickly in the beginning. If taking 40g per day one might be able to get away with dropping the dose 10g every 3 days or so.
Keep dropping it 5 or 10g every few days until you get to a point where you feel you’ve reached somewhat of a plateau. Then you can settle in for the long term taper.
I agree that Kratom has its place and can be very useful when controlled. I still use Kratom every now and then when I have a lot of physical work to do like when I am moving and I have a ton of boxes to load and unload from the moving truck.
If you have a hard time with the willpower part, a lot of folks on here have been having great results with hypnotherapy. We partnered with a hypnotherapist named Bill Engle who is just fantastic. I have heard of multiple people now that not only were able to quit using Kratom, but they have resolved other isssues as well such as smoking cigarettes and anxiety.
I hope to hear from you again and find out how you’re getting along. Sometimes having someone to talk to about it makes all the difference.
Good luck Nathan. You can do it!
Taper down your dose if you can’t just quit outright. Many have used the taper to quit without bad withdrawals. Since you are experiencing health issues you should talk to a medical professional and possibly seek some help that way.
The hypnotherapist we’ve been recommending has helped a few people quit in one go… It’s 99% mental so if you can’t do it on your own, check out what Bill Engle can do for you.
Hey guys,
This forum isn’t very active as of now. We only have 45 members. Maybe some day it will be more active but for now here’s a link to a Facebook group that appears to be pretty active and dedicated to support for quitting Kratom.
I haven’t joined it myself but it might be a good thing for you to look into.
Hey there,
Kudos for deciding enough is enough. If you continue to struggle I recommend talking to Bill Engle of Engle Hypnotherapy. He has helped a lot of people quit all sorts of things. A lot of folks are able to quit smoking cigarettes after one session even if they’ve been smoking for 20 years.
Even if a session makes it a little easier to quit the Kratom, I think it is worth looking into.

How’s it going Siegfried? You should be well on your way to controlling the K monster. Hope to hear about your success soon my friend.

Two car payments. Now that’s some serious cash. Probably more than you spend on food!
Sounds like you’re off to a great start. Go slow enough that you can manage it smoothly and find a way to keep your reason for quitting front and center.
Let us know how it goes for you.
You got this!
I’m betting it’s withdrawal.
When it was at its worst for me I had to wake up in the middle of the night to take more kratom. As soon as I could sleep through the night without waking up, I quit 100%. It took a few weeks of slowly taking less and less.
I didn’t get to specific with the taper either. I just consciously eyed the spoon fulls to be smaller and smaller. Yuck the taste was so gross.
Another thing that I think helped me was eating good, drinking lots of water, and getting some exercise in my legs every day.
I hope you are getting along alright.
Hey Theresa.
I answered your other thread but I’ll respond here too.
I’m here for you.
Have you read through our articles and downloaded the chart?
What is the hardest part for you?
Wow BP! That is awesome that you managed to taper down. It’s simple once you get it and the tricky part is avoiding the want to get high and take more.
Cheers to you for sticking with it and thank you for sharing. It’s little stories like this that can give others hope.
Now you can probably do the same thing with benzos, though this is very dangerous and should be done with the help of a DR. It’s all the same though. Reduce extremely slowly until you aren’t taking it anymore.
Great job. So proud of you and happy for you and your family.
Thanks Mermaidlady, it’s nice to know i’m not alone in this situation. Did you taper?
Hey Theresa. I’m glad you’ve found this forum. It’s new and only me running it so I’m hoping more people will join that can support each other.
The idea behind tapering is that it’s a slow process. You take a little less every day for at least a week or two, but sometimes more depending on your ability to get through the withdrawals.
The leg thing is the worst. It’s what kept me up at night when I was stopping and it was the last thing to go.
You can do it, but you have to be patient and go slow. Focus on taking a little less each time. If you take capsules, take one less in the morning then follow your normal regimen. Since night is the worst, save your highest dose for then.
Just like you slowly upped your dose, you can slowly down it. You can do it!
