Hi, I’m Theresa, I am not even sure why i tried this damn weed. But i like(d) it until it became such an expensive habit. I am a very addictive person. I tried to NOT take it the other morning and at around 10am these awful legs cramps and muscles spasms started happening. I caved and had to take some capsules i had luckily brought to work with me. I tried tapering yesterday, but maybe tapering too fast. I could not sleep. The leg cramps are the worse. I’m a runner, so i’m not sure if the kratom was masking soreness, which i usually have after running and i’ve upped my miles since it has gotten warmer, or if they are just a horrible result of withdrawal. They are horrible. I had restless legs and cramps in them all night and woke up a lot. Please wish me luck. I am a pretty isolated person so no one knows of my ‘habit’ that is now an addiction. I feel like kratom enhances my workouts and i’ll miss that, but damn, i just keep increasing my doses and spending my money on this shit. I’m considering going to a doctor, but i’m very ashamed that i am in this state at my age (47). It’s embarrassing. So i guess, i’m confiding in you here…and only you for now. Silly to say that since nothing on the internet is really confidentially safe.
May 1, 2019 at 4:19 am #951Your story sounds similar to mine. I’m so god damn embarrassed I’ve started taking this garbage and created this situation for myself. I have not told a single soul.
May 1, 2019 at 9:19 am #952Thanks Mermaidlady, it’s nice to know i’m not alone in this situation. Did you taper?
May 2, 2019 at 9:18 am #953Well it really sucks there is no support here. Anyone know of an active forum?
Sleeping is the worse. My legs are so restless. Had to get up and take some at 2:35am. Ugh….
May 3, 2019 at 12:12 pm #955Don’t feel ashamed about being physically addicted to a plant from South-East Asia, you have done nothing wrong.
I would suggest tapering slowly, and getting used to the new dose before you move down again.
Capsules are a great way to count the taper if you are able to get similar amounts in each. Then you can reduce by 1 capsule each time.
I have gone from 9 (3.5g) capsules x4 a day to 7 (2.7g) capsules x 3 a day. I am getting withdrawal symptoms but the reason I am stopping Kratom is because I was getting them in between doses anyway.
The mind is a powerful thing so try not to overthink quitting, it will be easier than you think but at the same time quite uncomfortable. Remember that it will not last forever 🙂

Hey Theresa. I’m glad you’ve found this forum. It’s new and only me running it so I’m hoping more people will join that can support each other.
The idea behind tapering is that it’s a slow process. You take a little less every day for at least a week or two, but sometimes more depending on your ability to get through the withdrawals.
The leg thing is the worst. It’s what kept me up at night when I was stopping and it was the last thing to go.
You can do it, but you have to be patient and go slow. Focus on taking a little less each time. If you take capsules, take one less in the morning then follow your normal regimen. Since night is the worst, save your highest dose for then.
Just like you slowly upped your dose, you can slowly down it. You can do it!
May 5, 2019 at 8:00 pm #965Thanks Jess. I’m doing alright cutting back. It’s uncomfortable but it’s getting better, except the last 2 nights i’ve had horrible night sweats, which of course, affects my sleep when i wake up drenched. I am not sure if that from withdrawal or not as i’m an older lady…lol.
May 7, 2019 at 10:04 am #966I’m betting it’s withdrawal.
When it was at its worst for me I had to wake up in the middle of the night to take more kratom. As soon as I could sleep through the night without waking up, I quit 100%. It took a few weeks of slowly taking less and less.
I didn’t get to specific with the taper either. I just consciously eyed the spoon fulls to be smaller and smaller. Yuck the taste was so gross.
Another thing that I think helped me was eating good, drinking lots of water, and getting some exercise in my legs every day.
I hope you are getting along alright.
May 13, 2019 at 7:30 pm #969I’m not good with this forum stuff. If you would like to talk to someone I’d be happy to email? Would be easier for me to keep track of. I have started tapering by just eyeballing less and less each week. Much more tolerable than just stopping altogether.

May 16, 2019 at 4:18 pm #971Hey Theresa —
Night is definitely the worst for me too. I’ve been taking Benadryl and, although they say it can make RLS worse, it actually seems to help for me. At least until around 5:30, which is about when I need to wake up anyway. I’m a runner too and have been getting in at least 3 miles in the evening to make my body tired. That seems to be helping as well.
Amy 🙂
July 2, 2019 at 8:45 pm #976Does anybody know about active quitting kratom forum? I need to quit, but it’s so hard. Legs are killing me. I am not able to sleep at all without taking kratom. I honestly didn’t think I would get addicted to this. I am 51 and have been taking for about 2 years. Started taking it for pain and depression.
Anybody? Thank you for listening, ayama
July 2, 2019 at 10:57 pm #977Hi Ayama,
I haven’t gotten up the motivation to quit yet myself 🙁 But there is a forum on Facebook that is very active and has great tips to help you get through withdrawal. I wish you luck. Here is the link. https://www.facebook.com/groups/129777827629141/about/
It is a closed group. Please keep me posted on what works for you. I need to know that please and thank you.
July 3, 2019 at 12:47 am #978Thank you so much for your reply. Joined the group on Facebook. I am kind of forced to quit due to the fact that I have a surgery planned for later this year. I can’t get through the day without K (I take it at least twice, morning and before going to sleep). I wouldn’t be able to survive in the hospital without it, hooked on IVs and confined to bed. Also, these days it’s very difficult to travel abroad with K in your luggage. It is considered a drug and if they find it, I could be in trouble. I basically take K to avoid withdrawal symptoms, mostly physiological I think. I don’t know how many grams I take, I don’t have a scale. I take about 1/2 – 3/4 of a teaspoon each time. I don’t think it’s that much, but I can’t be without it. I will keep you posted.
July 3, 2019 at 1:23 am #979Thank you I’ll look forward to your progress and hopefully i can be inspired by it and learn what works. I believe there are 4 grams in a teaspoon. I think you will find that group helpful and supportive.
