Kick Kratom › Forums › Introductions › About to start the taper, scared of the withdrawals
Hi, my name is Nathan. I’ve been doing kratom for about 10 years and do about 30 grams every evening in one sitting. I’ve tried tapering before and get horrible withdrawals, sleeplessness, really bed restless legs, and depression. I’ve recently had several bouts of my kidneys partially shutting down and I fear it’s from my long term use of a really high dose of kratom. I feel if I don’t quit now I risk serious problems or death. I’m motivated to make it work this time and am looking for all the support and motivation I can get.
Wish me luck 🙂
Good luck Nathan. You can do it!
Taper down your dose if you can’t just quit outright. Many have used the taper to quit without bad withdrawals. Since you are experiencing health issues you should talk to a medical professional and possibly seek some help that way.
The hypnotherapist we’ve been recommending has helped a few people quit in one go… It’s 99% mental so if you can’t do it on your own, check out what Bill Engle can do for you.
I can completely relate to where you’re at. It’s hard. I found Kratom while working at an adult store/smoke shop, and when I first started taking it I slowly was able to quit my drinking habit (I struggle with anxiety and it was the only thing that chilled me out because I couldn’t afford health insurance) here I am almost 2 years later with a close to 30 gram a day habit. I used to only take it at night but once the 12 hour mark hits I feel withdrawals and it sucks. I take 5 capsules in the morning, 5-6 in the afternoon and then like 10 or more at night. I’ve quit about 4 times and each time it sucked but I will say it was tolerable aside from the restless legs. That was the worst. The first couple of days are tough but it gets significantly easier after that. I was on the Reddit forum for a while but felt like it was a bit judgy there. Glad I found this site because it seems a lot more unbiased.
Anybody still on this forum and can talk about tapering. I need help
Did you do it???
Kratom is a wonderful plant with many medicinal uses. People have been using Kratom for thousands of years for increased energy and reduced pain. In the Western World, Kratom is somewhat of a new kid on the block. People are using it to curb their opiate withdrawals and escape heroin addiction. Others are using it to kick coffee habits. And some are just using Kratom recreationally.
There is a lot of information on the internet about Kratom. In my opinion, most of it is biased. Why is this? It’s because most of the information you can find with a quick Google search is published by companies that are selling Kratom. It’s in their best interest to promote Kratom and talk about how great it is while neglecting the negative side effects and potential for addiction.
